Greeting

Hirohide Arimoto, Convention Director

Chairman of the Board, E-Smile International Orthodontics
Director, Japanese Association of 3D Printing in Orthodontics

The widespread use of CBCT and intraoral scanners has led to major advances in incorporating DICOM and STL data into orthodontic treatment. These technological advances have allowed orthodontists to work with patient information more precisely using digital data.

The arrival of Invisalign was a revolutionary step that paved the way for orthodontic treatment in this fully digital age. The combination of digital design and 3D printing technology has created new possibilities for mouthpiece orthodontic technology. Mouthpiece orthodontic technology is reaching maturity, as exemplified by the development of various brands of orthodontic appliances and in-house aligners. Digital technology has been introduced in multi-bracket treatment as well, and a new approach to provide automatic tooth straightening is garnering attention. We are aware of the great promise and potential of this third-generation multi-bracket treatment.

This year’s 3D Printing in Orthodontics Conference has have invited two prominent developers whom attendees will most want to hear from right now: Dr. Hongsheng Tong, co-developer of the InBrace system, and Dr. Alfred Griffin III, creator of the Lightforce system. This is their first time to speak in Japan, and we are honored to have them share cutting-edge information with us. We have also asked leading lights from Japan who have actually used digital and 3D printing technologies clinically to speak about the considerable time they have spent and the ideas they have had. The essence of 3D printing technology is to transform digital ideas into reality. We sincerely look forward to your attendance. We hope that this conference will be an opportunity to make new discoveries and to blaze a trail to the future in the field of orthodontic treatment.
